“We remember and value your labor contribution”: a meeting with oil industry veterans was held at the KAZENERGY Association site  

On February 7 a meaningful confidential conversation took place between Kanat Bozumbayev, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Timur Kulibayev, the Chairman of the KAZENERGY Association, Alik Aidarbayev, the Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas and the industry veterans who made a great contribution to its development.

As Mr Timur Kulibayev noted, this meeting is a token of great respect for senior comrades and mentors. He thanked the veterans noting that the success of the industry over the past years that became the locomotive of the country's economy, is possible only due to their labor contribution. The Chairman of KAZENERGY emphasized that the main development of the energy sector was obtained during the years of Kazakhstan independence. Over the past period our republic has become one of the leading oil-gas producing countries. It is worthy to note that just last year a record volume of oil was produced - over 90 million tons, and about 56 billion m3 of gas was also extracted. Mr Kulibayev noted that the opinion of mentors is still very valuable for the younger generation of oil industry workers. It is no coincidence that at this meeting the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the top managers of the National Company KazMunayGas will tell them about the current situation, projects and their implementation.

The data of the oil-gas industry over the past years that has been successfully developing nowadays, thereby increasing the economic potential of Kazakhstan was presented to the guests of the evening by Kanat Bozumbayev, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As successfully completed projects and events the Minister singled out the modernization completion of three oil refineries, the growth of oil export potential by 17% and gas by 41%, the increase in electricity generation to 106.8 billion kWh. Bozumbayev noted that in the new 2019 the government support will be directed at introducing renewable energy sources and improving environmental protection.
During the event Alik Aydarbayev, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas also spoke to veterans about the results of the company's work in 2018 noting a significant improvement in the key performance indicators. Over the past year the company produced more than 23 million tons of oil, oil refineries processed 16 million tons of oil, production of gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel was also increased that allowed Kazakhstan to become 100% independent in its own supply.

Kurmangazy Iskaziyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Exploration, Production and Oilfield Services of JSC NC KazMunayGas elaborated on the development of major industry projects and prospects for oil and gas exploration and production in Kazakhstan.
Mr. Daniyar Tiyessov, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Oil Transportation, Refining and Marketing of JSC NC KazMunaiGas also presented the results of successful modernization of three oil refineries of Kazakhstan (Pavlodar, Shymkent and Atyrau).

Mr. Daniyar Berlibayev, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC AstanaGas KMG acquainted the audience with the implementation of the investment project “Construction of Sary-Arka main gas pipeline” noting that gas will be supplied to the capital, northern and central regions as soon as 2020. It is expected that the construction of the gas pipeline will give a significant socio-economic effect: 171 residential areas will be provided with gas, new jobs will be created, infrastructure, small and medium businesses will begin to develop, and most importantly, as Berlibayev noted, the construction of the pipeline will bring environmental improvement.

Uzakbay Karabalin, the Deputy Chairman of the KAZENERGY Association, proposed in his speech to work together and make proposals and recommendations for improving the activities of industry companies.

The meeting moderator, Asset Magauov, Director General of the KAZENERGY Association also acquainted the audience with the work of the Association outlining the key priorities of the regulatory climate in the oil and gas sector for the coming years that included participation in modernization of the environmental legislation, preparation of a raft of amendments directed at urging the development of tight deposits of oil. Development of market relations in the domestic market in the field of petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas through electronic commerce has also become one of the three main priorities of the Association for the coming years.

In response, statements were made by veterans Ravil Cherdybayev, Zeinulla Alshynbayev, Ural Akchulakov, Vladimir Shkolnik and many others who offered valuable suggestions on important issues and expressed gratitude to the KAZENERGY Association and National Company KazMunayGas for the attention to the older generation of the oil field workers and wished further production success.
The ceremony of presenting the letters of appreciation and awards to the veterans for their contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry took place at the end of the evening.
