On July 1-2, 2019, in the city of Nur-Sultan, at the site of Nazarbayev University, the Shell Kazakhstan company together with KAZENERGY Association held NXplorers training for members of 13 teams in the fourth round of the Student Energy Challenge annual contest. This training, combining approaches of system thinking, scenario planning and theory of change, was conducted by Nazarbayev University Research and Innovation System – an authorized private institution for holding NXplorers training.
The NXplorers’ “New Thinking Technologies” program is a specialized methodology that offers tools and special skills for the younger generation. This method allows to find non-standard solutions to the problems in the real world on the basis of cooperation, using innovative and interdisciplinary approaches.
The training was held in the format of team work to solve the problems of food, water and energy supply. The tasks assigned to the teams allowed the participants to use various effective analysis tools, to design and think over the impact of many factors and thus to find the best solution. All team members practiced the ability to present their projects and focus on specific goals. Team captains expressed their gratitude to the organizers and participants of all teams for new ideas and knowledge, as well as for the opportunity to realize the key point – achieving the best result is possible only with the aggregate knowledge and experience of each team member.
Upon completion of the training, all team members were awarded personal certificates.
