"Kazakhstan occupies strategic positions from the viewpoint of selecting energy resources' supply directions and thus it can play an important role in ensuring energy security in Eurasia," Kazak Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev said.

The conservative forecast for the oil extraction in 2018 is 135 million tons, Mynbayev said.

The minister called for creating attractive conditions for investing in the country's oil and gas sector.

The two-day forum, organized by the Kazakhstan Association of Oil-Gas and Power Industry Organizations, aims to discuss global and regional issues such as energy resources transportation, environmental protection, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
