A regular online meeting of the Energy Committee of the Presidium of Atameken NCE RK was held on September 30, 2020.
The Agenda was focused on environmental issues and the prospects for renewable green energy development in Kazakhstan, the current state and planned reforms in this legislative area. One of the topics discussed was the implementation of Almaty CHPP-2 Modernization Project with minimization of environmental impact and taking into account its prospective transition to gas.
Additionally, proposals and amendments to the Draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Amendments and Additions to Support the Use of Renewable Energy Sources and Electricity” have been discussed - the most topical issues in view of reforming environmental legislation through the development of alternative energy and waste-to-energy.
After presentation, the participants emphasized the need to develop promising target models of the electric power industry in the medium and long term and to study the renewable energy sources promotion and address environmental challenges considering the country’s international obligations.
Following question and answer session, the results of the meeting were summed up.
Chairman of the Energy Committee, Almasadam Satkaliyev, thanked participants of the meeting for their active participation and presentations and urged everyone to continue work in the discussed promising direction.
