The event was organized by the Association of Women in Energy of Kyrgyzstan and the USAID Central Asia Energy Project.
The aim of the summit, which was held on August 9-10 in Cholpon-Ata, was to establish cooperation, create a communication platform and ensure gender equality in the energy sector.
Women professionals from the energy sector of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of energy ministries, utilities, regulators, energy companies, universities and professional organizations of the above countries spoke at the summit.
Speakers from Kazakhstan were Vice-Minister of Energy Ms. Zhanat Zhakhmetova and Executive Director of KAZENERGY Association Mrs. Lyazzat Akhmurzina. Representatives of JSC Samruk-Energo, JSC Embamunaigas, JSC KEGOC, RFC RES LLP, Qazaq Green RES Association and other companies took part as delegates.
In her speech, Mrs. Lyazzat Akhmurzina noted that Kazakhstan is taking active measures to ensure gender equality in the country. For this purpose, legislative conditions were created, international agreements were ratified, and various initiatives in both the state and corporate sectors are supported. The information on KAZENERGY Women's Energy Club and current events, including women's forums and the results of research "The Role of Women in the Energy Sector of Kazakhstan" was also presented.
At the same time, at the summit, a Memorandum of Cooperation and Interaction was signed between the Association of Women in the Energy Industry of Kyrgyzstan and the KAZENERGY Association in the city of Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyzstan) in the building of the State Residence No. 2.
This memorandum establishes the strengthening of partnerships, development of effective and mutually beneficial cooperation between the parties on empowering and enhancing the role of women in the energy sector.
