The regular session of the Assembly ended with the adoption of important decisions regarding the future of IRENA. Thus, the Assembly participants extended the powers of the current Director-General of IRENA, Francesco La Camera, for a second four-year term and agreed on the IRENA's Medium-term Strategy 2023-2027.
The head of the Kazakhstan delegation, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zh. Nurmaganbetov confirmed in his speech delivered at the plenary session of the Assembly that Kazakhstan aims to become a carbon-neutral country by 2060 and is committed to the Sustainable Development Goals and the fulfillment of its obligations under the Paris Agreement.
By agreement between the KAZENERGY Association and the IRENA Secretariat, it is planned to hold a joint panel session on the development of renewable energy in Central Asia in the autumn within the framework of the most important industry event in the region – Kazakhstan Energy Week – 2023 / XV KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum.
