On July 7-9, Tashkent hosted a regional training on inventory of methane emissions from oil and gas systems based on the 2006 IPCC Guidelines.
The event was organized by the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia with the support of the Global Methane Hub under the Central Asia Capacity Building for Methane Emissions Reduction project.
Representatives of five Central Asian countries - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan - participated in the training. Delegations of Azerbaijan and Mongolia also acted as observers.
Representatives from Kazakhstan participated in the event:
- KAZENERGY Association;
- Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the RK;
- JSC “Zhasyl Damu”;
- JSC “NC ”KazMunayGas".
The training provided an overview of methane emissions estimation methodologies, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 approaches. Special attention was paid to practical application of IPCC methodologies in national conditions.
