Business breakfast "The Future of the Oil and Gas Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan" with representatives of major oil and gas companies took place in Astana

On February 28 a business breakfast “The Future of the Oil and Gas Sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan” took place in Astana.

The event participants including the first leaders and representatives of major domestic and foreign oil and gas, transport and service companies, members of Forbes Club Kazakhstan in an informal setting discussed such projects as Kalamkas-Sea, KER-1 Karachaganak, NERP, FGP/WPMP, etc. The development of oilfield services, the localization of large-scale production, the increasing potential of the domestic hydrocarbon market and other relevant topics in the oil and gas sector of Kazakhstan were also considered.

The event was organized by the KAZENERGY Association in cooperation with RPE Atameken, with the support of Forbes Kazakhstan and the general sponsor of Talan Towers.

The moderator of the event was Armanzhan Baitassov, Chairman of the Board of Forbes Russia.

The meeting was opened by Asset Magauov, Director General of KAZENERGY who told about the work of the Association as well as the current situation and forecasts in the hydrocarbons market, and the investment climate in the industry. It was noted that this year KAZENERGY actively works on proposals to improve environmental legislation.

Pascal Breant, the head of Total in the Republic of Kazakhstan also mentioned about the favorable investment climate emphasizing that the local companies have quite high prospects because during their joint work the oilmen actively introduced digitalization into working processes, thereby improving production rates and product quality and creating a comfortable environment for investors.

Olivier Lazare, Chairman of Shell Kazakhstan, in his speech told about the development prospects of the Khazar-Kalamkas project calling it "the future of the oil and gas industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan."

Askhat Duissaliev, Director General of KazPetrodrilling JSC also spoke at the business breakfast about “The Localization of Large-Scale Production”, and Pavel Beklemishev, Deputy Chairman of RPE RK “Atameken” Machinery and Metalworking Committee who told the guests about the increasing opportunities of domestic producers and their relationship with oil and gas companies. Nurlan Ibragimov, Operational Director of KazTurboRemont LLP closed the event speaking to the audience about the production localization in Kazakhstan and the company's achievements.
