Samruk-Energo Launches “Samgau” Program to Foster Women’s Leadership in Kazakhstan’s Energy Sector

A forum dedicated to the development of women’s leadership and the promotion of equal opportunities in Kazakhstan’s energy sector was held in the capital. The event was organized by Samruk-Energo.

One of the key moments of the forum was the launch of the “Samgau” Women’s Leadership Development Program by Samruk-Energo JSC. The program aims to enhance women’s managerial competencies, strengthen the internal talent pool, and increase their participation in corporate governance.

During the forum, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energo JSC Kairat Maksutov emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative:

“The ‘Samgau’ program is aimed at developing women’s leadership potential and creating equal opportunities for professional growth. It marks an important step toward building a corporate culture based on leadership, professionalism, and responsibility. We support women who strive for development and are ready to take on management challenges,” he said.

The program will be implemented in two stages: participant selection and modular training with mentoring support. Upon completion, participants will receive priority for promotion to managerial positions and will be included in the corporate Talent Pool.

Lazzat Akhmurzina, Executive Director of the KAZENERGY Association, also delivered a welcoming speech, highlighting that strengthening the role of women in the energy sector is a key component of sustainable industry development:

“Promoting women’s leadership is an investment in human capital and the future of the industry. Companies that foster a culture of equal opportunities are more adaptable and resilient to modern challenges. The KAZENERGY Association supports initiatives aimed at developing women’s potential and increasing their involvement in strategic decision-making,” she noted.

The forum served as a platform for discussing best corporate practices, implementing ESG principles, and expanding women’s participation in business and industry. The “Samgau” initiative received broad support as an important tool for developing human capital in Kazakhstan’s energy sector.
