The 20th meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council “Innovations for the Oil and Gas Industry”

On December 12, the 20th meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the KAZENERGY Association on the topic “Innovations for the Oil and Gas Industry” was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chairman of the KAZENERGY Association Uzakbai Karabalin.

The participants of the meeting discussed the following issues: horizontal drilling with a big departure from the vertical — achievements in the world and keys to success, new technologies of mechanized mining, application of innovative GIS technologies for drilling horizontal logs to achieve maximum contact with the reservoir and increase productivity of wells, activation of hydrocarbons by the method of selective resonance-wave action, technologies of intensification of oil recovery with the use of energy-saturated materials and devices based on them, methods of increasing oil recovery and a method that increases the productivity of oil wells, and a report on the re-classification of Kashagan field reserves according to the PRMS standard was heard.

The report on the re-classification of the Kashagan field reserves according to the PRMS standard (management system for hydrocarbon resources) was made by Zeynep ESBULATOVA, Head of the Technical Regulation Department of NCOC N. V. The speaker noted the advantages of PRMS in relation to the standards of the State Commission on Mineral Reserves, and also gave recommendations to the KAZENERGY working group. NCOC recommends the use of annual reporting with a classification of reserves in 6 PRMS categories: proven developed, proven undeveloped, probable, possible and contingent resources of the basic option. The categories are chosen based on the experience of NCOC and the Contractors.

Sanzhar ZHARKESHOV, an engineer and an international drilling expert, shared his experience in the field of the horizontal drilling and spoke about the world experience of the drilling with a large departure from the vertical (LDFV). According to the speaker, LDFV technology will increase oil production, facilitate access to resources and reduce the costs of enterprises. We must note that Sanzhar ZHARKESHOV is a member of the UK Engineering Council, a lecturer in the drilling training course from BER Merlin ERD Ltd, as well as the owner of the Queen Elizabeth II Prize, the SPE International Award for Excellence in Drilling.

The themes of “New technologies of mechanized mining” and “Application of innovative GIS technologies for drilling horizontal trunks for maximum contact with the collector and increasing the productivity of wells” were made by the representatives of Schlumberger Kazakhstan Andrey FASTOVETS and Aman MAHAMBETOV.

Representatives of “Ast Nedra” LLP Renat KHAMIDULIN and “Energia NPO”, JSC “Asgard” Scientific Research Institute, Alexander BAZHENOV presented SNIREX technology — a technology of selective resonance-wave excitation of atoms based on physicochemical principles of mechanochemistry. The purpose of this technology is to increase the efficiency and environmental safety of FEC enterprises, which is used in 4 areas: a well — to improve the quality of raw materials at the extraction site; transportation — to reduce operating costs; refinery — to increase the depth of processing, including heavy oil; processing of oily waste — to improve the level of environmental safety. The objectives of the technology are: to improve the quality of raw materials, to increase the depth of processing, including heavy oil, to improve the quality of finished products, to reduce operating costs, as well as to increase the level of environmental safety.

In turn, the company “ServiceDALAGroup” presented technologies for intensification of oil recovery with the use of energy-saturated materials and devices based on them. The consultant of LLP “ServiceDALAGroup” Alexander MARSOV spoke about a complex perforator with a thermo gas and acid module. The module is designed for both opening the layer and thermal-gas-acid treatment in oil, gas and other wells in order to attract inflow and increase or restore well production along with perforation.

The closing speech was presented by the Doctor of Geological Sciences Ouyang Wenshenem, the Director of “EASTEOR SERVICE LLP”, concerning methods of increasing oil recovery and a method that increases the productivity of oil wells.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the STC noted that these projects and issues are relevant for today and have a perspective in further development in their areas. Uzakbai KARABALIN thanked the participants of the STC and presented the lecturers with the book “Oil and Gas of Independent Kazakhstan”, issued by the KAZENERGY Association this year.
